WEB CONTENT COMPANIES
Tuesday, May 20th, 2008My parents have no idea what I went to school for or the kind of freelance writing work I’ve done. I’ve done freelance work for Chicago SEO and web content companies, advertising agencies, newspapers, magazines, Internet web zines, and even a few pieces here and there for the city of Chicago and job placement companies and staffing firms. I originally went to school for a degree in English, but then went on to get a masters degree in creative writing. However, whenever asked about what I did, my parents said I was in journalism. This didn’t mean that they secretly wished that I was a journalism student. On the contrary, they both thought that me being a writer was pretty interesting. They just didn’t know the difference between fiction and non-fiction. My mother tried to read a few of my short stories, but kept thinking that I was writing about myself or my brother or the family when it was really just something I’d made up. Of course a lot of the time I was writing about vampires and aliens and ancient Ireland and Rome and a dozen other things that had nothing to do with my own life or anything resembling it.
